Rio de Janeiro and Around

While Rio de Janeiro conjures up images of the majestic city, often known in Portuguese as the Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City), it is only a part of the state of Rio de Janeiro, which offers some amazing sights and attractions of its own. With a population of 16 million, only 6 million of whom are located within the city limits, the state of Rio offers the alluring Buzios and Ilha Grande, along with some incredible culture, national parks, and ecotourism.
