The Hot and Humid RainforestIt is essential to remember that the bulk of Brazil lies in the southern hemisphere, thus the seasons are reversed. Thus, in the major tourist destinations of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, the high season is our winter in the north: December, January and February. Most of Southern Brazil has hot and humid summers, and mild winters, but it never gets particularly cold.

Rainy Season in the Pantanal

Northeastern Brazil, meanwhile has year round warm weather, with summers topping 40C, while winter temperatures rarely drop below the high 20s. The Amazon is likewise hot and humid year-round, while the Pantanal has hot winters, but a mild and cooler rainy season from December to March.
