Recife Restaurants

Recife and Boa Viagem offer a wide variety of traditional Northeastern cuisine. For those on a budget, there is an abundance of buffet restaurants that typically sell dishes for R$25 a kilo.

A fun themed restaurant is Parraxaxa, where waiters dress in humorous police and bandits costumes, and serve up delicious grilled beef, and a spectacular baiao de dois (a spicy casserole of rice, beans, and cheese). A specialty of the region, as well, is the tapioca pancake, served with either coconut milk, or cheese.

Octopus stew, roast goat, and guiamuns
(giant roasted crabs) round out the local cuisine for the more adventurous types. Also, make sure to wash everything down with the famed agua de coco (coconut juice).
